Objectives:
1. Students will use the
Digital Atlas of Idaho.
2. Students will learn about the status of Idaho forests.
Procedure:
Encourage your students to explore the forestry section of the Digital Atlas.
They can work in groups of 2-3 students. To get there: click on Idaho Overview,
then on Forestry.
Have your students explore the forestry pages and encourage them to click on
the links to see the various pictures. Complete the following worksheet. For
a printable pdf copy of the worksheet you can give your students, just click
on Handout Sample below.

Forests are very important for a number of reasons, which include supporting
wildlife, preventing erosion, production of oxygen, and many other human needs.
Fortunately, Idaho has many forested areas that gives us the materials and recreational
opportunities we desire, Unfortunately, we have not always been wise stewards
of these resources and human over harvest and misuse have taken their toll.
This activity will give you a brief overview of the history and status of Idaho
forests.
Use your knowledge to answer the following questions:
