Overview:
This activity should be fun for the students as it helps them to get familiar with various mammals found in Idaho.

Procedure:
Teachers can have students do this in groups of three or four. Students should be encouraged to use the digital atlas to identify these mammals. They may also use guidebooks if they are available in your classroom, but they should be able to complete this activity using the mammal section of the Digital Atlas. To get there: Click on Atlas Home, Biology, Mammals, then on Mammal Checklist. After students identify these mammals, have a discussion on the role each animal plays in its environment.
