Procedure:
Choose a report options from the list below:
1. Choose a metal from the list of those found in Idaho. Prepare a report for the class telling what the metal is used for. You may need to look in an encyclopedia or visit the school or city library.
2. Phosphate is used in fertilizer. Visit a farm or garden store and see what kinds of fertilizers contain phosphate. Find out what the phosphate does for the plants and the soil. You may also need to look in an encyclopedia or the school or city library, Report to your class what you have learned about phosphate.
3. Where Does Gold Come From? How does gold get into the rocks? What is gold used for? Use the Atlas, the internet and your library to answer these questions and others. Write a report on what you have learned about gold.
4. How Do We Get Gold Out of the Rocks? How is gold removed from ore? Use the Atlas, the internet and your library to answer these questions and others, and to gather pictures. Make a poster that shows how gold is removed from the rocks and made into gold bars.
